As Thanksgiving approaches, I'm wrapping up my Gatorade Endurance Running Journey. It's the perfect time to say THANKS to Gatorade. They made sure I had enough fuel to train and race for four months! Fueling in FloridaIn August, I got the chance to stock up on Gatorade Endurance as I pursued my Fall race goals. This was a thrill for me since I love the Endurance formula. I live in hot and humid Florida, so hydration is serious business. Extra electrolytes and carbs are vital, especially on long runs. Ignore them and it's easy to dehydrate and bonk. Another important factor is finding the right fuel for your body. After trying Gatorade Endurance last year, it became my primary fuel. It goes down easy, and never upsets my stomach. Disclaimer: I’m promoting Gatorade Endurance as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to find and write race reviews. I also choose Gatorade Endurance because of consistency and taste. The easy-to-swallow gels come in Blackberry, Apple-Pear, Mango, and Vanilla. Yum! During a long run, I NEED something fluid and subtle like the GE gels. Sweet, sticky gels don't work when I'm running and breathing hard. They're messy and hard to get down. The same goes for fluids. I can't digest too much sweetness. The GE thirst quencher powders are light and refreshing. I can measure out the powder to suit my taste. I pour some in a bottle, add water, and shake, shake, shake my way out the door.
Winter Racing and New GoalsMy Fall half marathons didn't play out to plan, so I'll keep pursuing my goal of a new PR. It's gonna happen, I just know it! I have a 15K, 10K, and half marathons scheduled. I live in Florida, so Winter is my favorite running season. While I like the challenge of running in heat and humidy, I LOVE how it feels to run in chilly temps. BTW, chilly means 50s to a Florida weather whimp like me!

Enjoy a Festive Run Along Bayshore BoulevardCheck out my favorite photo from last year: Olaf Racers! There were lots of runners dressed up in holiday gear. The race course takes you all along Bayshore Boulevard with views of Tampa Bay and beautiful homes decorated for the season. This race always puts me in a holiday mood.
This isn't running related, but it's too good not to share. This restaurant chain in Italy uses bucatini pasta as straws. (Watch video).
In the UK, Stroodles makes pasta straws for the hospitality industry. GoSili silicone straws from Michigan and metal straws are popular around here. This idea is brilliant. Get yourself some bucatini pasta instead of using plastic straws. If that's not feasible, invest a couple of bucks into reusable silicone or metal straws. Bottom line: every little bit helps!
