This Friday night run on the beach was the perfect ending to the week. The race is part of a 3-race series put on by Race Hawk to benefit VIP Warriors, a group that helps wounded veterans participate in sports.
Runners began arriving at the John's Pass Beach Park around 5:15 pm. Packet pick up and registration was in the shelter next to the parking lot.
I had my bib and race shirt in a couple of minutes, so I walked on the beach while waiting for a friend to arrive.
What You Need to Know
Cost: Early registration is the best deal. You can register for 1, 2 or 3 races.
Race Day: $35
Packet Pickup: Packet pickup was only available on Friday from 5:15-7:00 pm at the race site.
SWAG: Race Swag is only guaranteed for pre-registered runners.
June - tank top
July - beach towel
August - trucker hat
RunAppeal.com was on site with a raffle for running shoes. (I think I heard an announcement that the male/female winners would receive a gift certificate.)
Race Day Parking: Parking was FREE in the John's Pass Park lot only. Get there early, and you'll find a spot. (There is additional paid parking nearby.) The free parking is a great perk in this busy beach town, especially near sunset.
