Walter Fuller Park

7891 26th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, Florida

Easy access to Walter Fuller Park at 26th Avenue North and 78th Street. 133 Acres. Sidewalks and Paved Exercise Trail. Dog Park. Shady Playground. Tennis Courts. Swimming Pool Open Seasonally. Soccer Fields. Basketball Courts. Public Restrooms. Opens 30 minutes before sunrise. Closes 30 minutes after sunset.

  • Marked 1.89 mile path along the perimeter of the park on the cement sidewalks. Start in front of pool.
  • Lovely nature trail at the center of this park that's a .69 mile paved trail circling Jungle Lake.
  • Lots of landscaping, geese, ducks, squirrels, dogs and birds. Lake has large water fowl population.
  • Walter Fuller Recreational Center has Elementary and Teen camps. Open Mon.-Fri. 7 am - 7pm.
  • Restrooms inside the Rec Center Building, and at the concession stand on the south side of the nature trail.
  • Outdoor water fountain I found is on the nature trail behind the concession stand. It's in full sun.
  • Pool has public swims 11 am-4 pm. Twilight swims Fri. 6:30-9:30 pm. $3 each. Closed Sundays.
  • Restrooms and water fountains inside the Pool Area, which requires an admission fee.
  • Shady playgrounds and outdoor picnic areas. Lots of mature trees along paved sidewalks.
  • Several parking lots: by recreation center, pool, soccer fields, baseball fields.
  • Street parking. You'll find shady spots on 30th Avenue near ball fields.
  • The park is well maintained by the city.
  • No food sources, but Tyrone Blvd and Tyrone Square Mall are nearby.
Walter Fuller Park in St. Petersburg is a hub for youth soccer and baseball. It also has a rec center, summer program, and pool.
Boardwalk by the basketball court leads to the nature trail around Jungle Lake.
The pool is open seasonally. Look for lots of camp groups during the summer.

Plenty of water fowl live at Jungle Lake in Walter Fuller Park.
Lighted soccer fields.
Jungle Lake is in the center of the park.
There is plenty of seating throughout the park.

There is a water fountain for dogs and people on the nature trail, next to the bathrooms.

The nature trail offers sun and shade.

A slight incline on the nature trail is good for workouts.

One of 4 boulders donated to the city of St. Petersburg for Walter Fuller Park. Donated by the Jungle Terrace Community Association. I think this is the best seat in the park. This stone bench is on the nature trail facing a flower garden.

An entry path that leads to the nature trail.
There are 3 shelters facing the lake.
Playgrounds are situated in shady areas of the park.
Mile markers are painted on the cement sidewalks.
A grove of crepe myrtle trees.

The park is bordered by a mobile home park, business park, city recycling center and single family home neighborhood.

There are large stretches of the trail without shade.

Azalea Little Leage Baseball headquarters are at the park.

West side of the soccer fields.
There are lots of soccer league games played at Walter Fuller.
This former concession stand is closed. It used to serve a dirt bike track that is no longer there.
Tennis courts are near the pool.
Walter Fuller Pool hosts lots of summer camp groups during June, July and August.
There is plenty of shaded parking by the rec center and pool. Additional parking is available by the dog park.
The start/finish line for the outer perimeter path is in front of the pool.
