The West Florida Y Runners Club hosts this event each winter. There's a 10 mile beach and trial run, and a 5K beach run.

10 Mile Beach/Trail Run:The course will be out & back heading north from PIER 60 along Clearwater Beach to Caladesi Island, through trails on Caladesi Island & back, returning along the beach to PIER 60. Packet Pick Up is race day starting at 6:00 AM at Clearwater Beach Pier 60 Park.
Race start is 7:30 AM (rain or shine).Part of the proceeds benefit “Friends of the Island Parks”.
5K Clearwater Beach Race ($20?)
5K Clearwater Beach Run: The course will start from Pier 60 run north from Pier 60 along Clearwater Beach for 1.55 miles to the aid station then returning along beach to Pier 60. Packet Pick Up is race day starting at 6:00 AM at Clearwater Beach Pier 60 Park.

Timing and Pacers
All bibs have a timing chip. There's a timing mat at the start/finish line only. No pacers for a race like this.
Awards
Top 3 male and female Overall Awards. Top male and female for Masters and Grand Masters. Age Group awards were 3 deep in each of 15 age groups.

I saw a couple of crabs and some coral, just like the ones on the medals, while running along the beach during the race.

#SeenOnARun #SceneOnARun -- I saw sand dollars, shells, sharks teeth, crabs, and coral on the beach. There were lots of big shells. The kind you don't find if you hit the beach later in the day.
Because of the natural landscape — Mangroves and driftwood — there's a lovely custom of hanging shells on tree branches. Some of the ornaments had names on them. It would be fun to go back and look at them more closely. There's a photo of the hanging shells in the course description above.
