Do you listen to music when you run or workout? How about podcasts on your long slow run of the week? Does your favorite song motivate you during the last mile of a long race? Do you run on city streets, in the country, or at the gym? If you answered yes to any of those questions, keep reading to learn more about bone conduction headphones — specifically, the Trekz Air made by AfterShokz.å Put On AfterShokz Trekz Air and Go!Here's the Deal: BibRave + AfterShokz Bundle!Never Run in a Leftover 5K? It's Time to Try!Actually, I don't know of any other Leftover Races. All I know is you've gotta try the Best Damn Race Leftover 5K. The third annual race is Saturday, June 2nd in Safety Harbor, FL. Besides a beautiful race course, there's added fun when choosing your race shirt and medal. All the leftover shirts and medals from Best Damn Races (2017 and earlier) will be up for grabs. On race day, all the medals are displayed on tables at the finish line. When you complete your race, you get to choose any medal. Better run fast if you have a particular medal in mind! Read my Leftover 5K review from last year for all the details. Don't wait to sign up. Part of the fun is seeing how little you can pay for the race. Registration opens at noon on Valentine's Day. The first 250 registrants pay just $10; from there the price increases depending on the number of runners. The good news is you'll never pay more than $25. Leftovers are good! Disclaimer: I received BibBoards to review as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review, find and write race reviews! The first time I ran a race I worried a lot about what to wear:
I'd Operated Safety Pins Before. I Didn't Think Pinning My Bib was Going to be a Thing. My poorly pinned race bib irritated me for 13.1 miles! It was the first half marathon where I RAN the entire race. That bib was a big distraction. It flapped. It wrinkled. It moved around. It caught the wind like a parachute on a downhill slope. It made noise on every single step. What's the Big Deal if a Race Bib Makes Noise?A noisy bib is like a dripping faucet — a constant irritant. During a race, you don't want to think about anything except putting one foot in front of the other. Little things are annoying. (Especially in mile 10 to 13!) By the end of the race, my bib was a mess. The safety pins pulled the bib until each corner was permanently wedged in the circle end of the pin. When I took the bib off, there were pin pricks on my shirt. The corners tore. The bib was crinkled.
BibBoards Beat Pins and Saved My ShirtsAfter using #BibBoards, I'm done with safety pins on race bibs. Here's why:
That's Why I'll Keep Using BibBoardsThere you have it. That's my honest (overly detailed?) review of BibBoards. Bottom line? I really like them! Give them a try! Don't Forget! What do you think of when someone says Miami? Maybe it's beaches, sunshine, celebrities or excellent food. (Maybe it's all of those things!) But, did you know it's a popular race-cation destination? And why not? It never snows in Miami. And the sights and sounds are excellent! There's everything from alligators in Everglades National Park to historic architecture in the Art Deco District. It's a fascinating area. The 305 Half Marathon and 5K (formerly 13.1 Miami Beach) is perfect for a running vacation. This year the races are on March 4th. Let's take a look at the race course. Tour the City While You #RunMiamiThe 305 Half Marathon begins and ends on historic Ocean Drive in South Beach. I love South Beach. It's beautiful to look at, plus you can find the most delicious food! The race begins on the beach with views of the water and all the restaurants on Ocean Drive. Ahh, I can feel those balmy ocean breezes now. The race course moves north from South Beach through town. Many buildings have a fun art deco vibe. You'll have a street-level view of some beautiful homes. You'll see the lush green Miami Beach Golf Course on your way to the bridge. It's All Foot Traffic on the CausewayOn the Julia Tuttle Causeway there will be beautiful blue water on either side of you. Running across the bridge is fun without cars! I don't know about you, but I always enjoy running where I can't on a normal day. Wynwood Walls and DoorsAfter exiting the causeway, runners head south on 2nd Ave NE for a couple of miles. This part of the course takes you past the Wynwood neighborhood. It's a converted warehouse district known for graffiti, funky galleries, breweries, bistros and bars. It's an outdoor mural museum! Make a plan to spend time here before or after your race. It will recharge your creative juices. Biscayne Bay, Fisher IslandNext, you'll run away from Miami — back across the water on the Macarthur Causeway. You'll see giant cruise ships in the port. On the north side of the causeway is Palm Island. You'll exit the causeway and follow the paved South Point Park Bayway along Biscayne Bay with views of Fisher Island. South Beach, Lummus ParkThe course turns north, then takes a jog onto Ocean Drive for the last mile. The finish line is in Lummus Park on South Beach. Did I mention that I love South Beach? There you'll receive your medal and enjoy a post-race beach party. 305 Half Marathon and 5K Race AmenitiesThere are a lot of amenities and perks built into this event! First, there's the weather! The average temperature in Miami during March is 74 degrees. When you register for 305 Half Marathon and 5K you'll receive a tech shirt, beautiful medal, and a fully supported raced course. (There are 11 aid stations for the half marathon.) Here's everything you get when you run:
To Recap: Register. Run. Race-cation!The views and vibe are awesome in the 305! During the race you'll see the city in a new way. After the race there's so much more to see and do. Miami and Miami Beach offer more than beautiful beaches. Botanical Gardens. Art Galleries. Fine Food. Museums. Street Art. Music. Little Havana. Little Haiti. Sightseeing Cruises. Check out this list of the ten best things to do in Miami. Use My Discount Code for the 305 Half! The race is on March 4, 2018. Make your plans and "do it like a local" at the 305 Half Marathon & 5K.
