Gettin’ it done, every day in 2020. 🏃♀️ As I mentioned in an earlier blog, I kicked off 2020 with two running challenges:
Virtual races and challenges seemed odd to me at first, but thanks to social media, apps, and hashtags they're interactive and fun. I love seeing where other people run, and watching them reach their goals.
I’m headed into Loop 2 of the 465 Challenge. (Of course, I made a video. I wanted to see if I could make an emoji car 🏎️ travel I-465.)
It's interesting how much a virtual race (or two) can help me find my way back to fitness after slacking over the holidays.
I'm determined to get in at least 4 loops by Feb. 29. I have two Best Damn Race Half marathons in February to help me reach that goal. Woo. Hoo!
I registered for the 465 premium challenge. That means I'm earning a medal and shirt for my efforts.
Registration is open until Feb. 29. There's a discount and picture of the medal on my Race Discounts page.
My first in-person 2020 race is next weekend. It's one of my faves, the St Pete Beach Classic. I don't expect to run fast since I'm not fully trained, but I feel better overall thanks to the challenges.

Run Smart: A Nutrition Guide for Runners
It doesn't matter if you're running a 5K, 10K, Half or Full Marathon — you'll always do better when you eat right. Good food is the best fuel for a runner.
Still, knowing food is fuel doesn't mean I always make the best choices. It's easier to eat smart when you have a plan. A plan makes shopping and food prep part of training.
Nutrition strategist, Yvette Waters MS, RDN, CISSN of Raley's Nob Hill Foods created a helpful guide for runners. She explains how to prep for your race with good nutrition during training, the week before you race, and after your event.
I'm running next weekend, so I'm following the Raley's nutrition guide for my day-by-day nutrition throughout race week. It's an easy-to-follow plan that helps set me up for success. I want to kick off things off right for my first race of the new year.
Raley's Nob Hill Foods is a sponsor for the Napa Valley Marathon on Sunday, March 1, 2020. I hope to run the Napa Valley Marathon sometime soon, and be properly fueled!
