13.1 Flat Miles in Florida Sunshine (and Snow)
It was 45 degrees at the starting line for yesterday's Florida West Coast Half in Sarasota, FL. And, there was a machine floating snow flurries over the starting area!
I had to wipe snowflakes off my phone. Despite the chill, it was a gorgeous day for a race. The course was a flat and scenic tour of Nathan Benderson Park and the adjacent neighborhood. I'll definitely return to the park to see a rowing competition and run the trails again. The final floating mile I looked forward to running during the half turned into a battle against the wind. I'd love another chance on a warm day to run across the lake. The race was a smooth operation from start to finish. Thanks to Elite Events for a fun experience! I'll post a full review soon.
