Review: AfterShokz Aeropex Bone Conduction Headphones

1/3/2020

Best Headphones for Running

My favorite running routes involve large parks and trails. But, I run through the city to reach them. I don't know about your city, but around here common obstacles include:
  • People texting and driving
  • Cars that don't use turn signals
  • Cars and bikes that don't look both ways
  • Overgrown foliage that blocks sight lines
  • Kids on skateboards and scooters
  • Exuberant dogs

I'm ready for these distration and dangers with AfterShokz Aeropex. They're bine-conduction headphones that sit NEXT to my ear. Sound transmits through my bones.

That means my ears are open so I can hear what's going on around me. Cars. Bikes. Frisbees. Scooters. Tennis Balls. Dogs.

Disclaimer: I received AfterShokz Aeropex as a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review, find, and write race review

Aeropex are Waterproof

Do you like running in the rain? How about hosing off after a hot, sweaty, summer run? Aeropex lets you do both while listening to your music or podcast. Go ahead and run in the rain, sleet, and snow — you're a runner, aren't you?

Aeropex have an IP67 waterproof rating. They aren't rated for deep sea diving, but if you fall in the pool after a workout you're okay. (Just make sure they're dry before charging.)

Enhanced Audio

If you like a lot of base (or volume) when you run, AfterShokz has you. Say hello to PremiumPitch 2.0+ Stereo Sound. I noticed less sound leakage and vibration with Aeropex compared to my Trekz Airs. (Although, I love them both!)

Crank up your power song without concern. The people around you won't hear it. That makes Aeropex good for the office as well as the track.

Magnetic Charging Connection

The Aeropex has a magnetic charging cable. It plugs into any standard USB-charging port. The flexible 2-foot cable is lightweight and compact.

All Aeropex come with two cables. Keep one at home and the other at the office.

Moisture Detection Alert

After wearing these in the rain or for an extreme workout make sure the charging connection is dry before you plug in. There's a moisture detection alert for safe charging.

If the device detects liquid residue the light will flash blue and red. The headphones will vibrate and beep a warning sound. If this happens, dry the charging port and then charge in the normal way.

8 Hours of Music and Calls on Multiple Devices

I can't think of anything better than taking a call in the middle of a run with Aeropex. It's so much better than trying to find your phone in a pocket or belt.

I wear these in the office most days, too. The charge lasts 9 hours (maybe more?). Another feature is
multipoint pairing. You can connect your Aeropex to multiple devices!

Aeropex can pair to most Bluetooth devices that use Bluetooth 3.1 or higher. That includes phones, tablets, computers and watches. Aeropex won't pair to gaming consoles and some transmitters.

New Color Choices

When I got my Aeropex in November the color choices were Cosmic Black and Lunar Gray.

I was fine with that, but now you have more color choices!

AfterShokz added Solar Red and Blue Eclipse to the stellar lineup!

Two-Year Warranty and Online Help Desk

Use the card that comes with your Aeropex headphones to register for for a two-year warranty. Keep the card in a safe place. I've never had any trouble with my Aeropex (or Trekz Airs), but if you do help is an email or keyboard away.

Check out the online help desk for answers to FAQs. Email [email protected] service if you need more.

Final Thought: Get AfterShokz Aeropex

I recommend these headphones to anyone who will listen to me. (Just ask my mailman and family!)

They're great for runners, bikers, walkers, skaters, and anyone who's active. They're also good for office life. You can listen to your favorite podcast or music and still hear your co-workers when it's time to order lunch!

If  you didn't enter the AfterShokz Disney Wine and Dine Sweepstakes, you can't win a pair. So, it's time to ask someone to give you a gift or go buy a pair!
