Scenes from a Sunset 5K on the Beach

Here’s the view from the Race Hawk 5K on Madeira Beach Friday night, July 6th. It was a mellow beachy 🏖 mood. This was the second race in the 5K Sunset Series.

​When I scouted the beach an hour before the race it was FULL of vacationers at the shore for the July 4th holiday. I wondered if there was room for a race. Yet, by start time, there was space for runners and beachgoers.

It's always fun to run on the beach because of the onlookers. Last night was funny. Some spectators yelled, "Water! Water here!" then held out beer cans as we ran past. Others shouted sincere encouragement from their beach chairs.

The race began at 7 pm. It was hot (86º), humid (63%), and fun! 😎 Isn’t everything better at the beach? I love running next to the water!
